FAQ for Jeffrey Kafer Male Voice over Talent
Q: Who are you?
A: I'm an award-winning professional voice artist living and working in the Seattle area. I have over 20 years of theater and improv experience. I went to San Francisco State University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with 2 bachelor degrees in Cinema and Broadcasting. Recently I was awarded the 2008 Voicey Award for Best New Voice. In short, I have the acting experience and formal education to provide you professional results.
Q: How much do you charge?
A: Good question. Unfortunately, there's no single answer. Asking how much it's going to cost for voice overs is like asking how much it's going to cost to build a house. How big is it? What extras do you want? With voice-overs, there are similar factors that can affect the price. What is the distribution? How long will it run? Do you need royalty-free music? How much editing do you need done? Head over to the Rate Quote Request Form and give me the details of your project and I'll quote you a fair price. Is your budget low? I can work within any reasonable price range.
Q: How fast can you do the job?
A: I don't like to rush jobs, nor do I promise perfect results in an hour. That doesn't leave me any wiggle room for unexpected delays, other voice over projects on my schedule, or the time I need to deliver the vocal performance you truly want. However, I do estimate a 10-12 hour turnaround time for most projects (not including long-from narration). More often than not, I will be able to deliver in a much shorter timeframe. I will give you a specific timeframe when you submit via the Rate Quote Request Form. Longer scripts will require more time, but I do my best to deliver excellent results when you neeed them
Q: What equipment do you use?
A: First of all, the most important piece of equipment I have is my voice. With that out of the way, I use an Audio-Technica AT3035 large diaphragm mic, Adobe Audition, a classic warm tube preamp, and a very quiet vocal booth. If you want to hear my equipment in action, all of my demo reels were recorded and mastered with the equipment in my studio. If they sound good to your ears, then you know your project will too.
Q: Do you offer Phone Patch or ISDN sessions?
A: I am available for phone patch and ISDN sessions (extra studio rates will apply for ISDN). Shoot me a piece of your script via the Rate Quote Request Form and specify that you need phone patch or ISDN.
Q: Can you give me a custom demo of my script?
A: I'm happy to. Send me the script via the Rate Quote Request Form and I'll perform some of it for you to give you an idea of the vocal stylings you can expect.
Q: What if I want you to change something in your recording?
A: "Pick-ups" (re-reads) are done at no charge if you are not happy with the delivery or want a different emphasis. My performances are 100% guaranteed. I want you to be happy with the recording and will do what I can to make sure you are repeat customer. Pick-ups based on script changes are gladly re-recorded for a charge of 50% of the original session (Full ISDN studio rates will apply for any pickups).
Q: What types of payment do you accept?
A: Check, money order or paypal. Paypal is my preferred method since it allows the customer to pay via credit card as well as paypal fund transfers.
Q: Do you need the money upfront?
A: For new customers, I require a 50% upfront payment via paypal. The rest will be due within 30 days of delivery. For repeat clients in good standing, full payment is due within 30 days of final delivery with no upfront payment required.
Q: How do you send out invoices?
A: I send invoices via email or postal mail. The choice is yours!
Q: Do you offer Royalty-free music?
A: Yes. I have a selection of royalty-free music that I'm happy to use in your project for a nominal fee.
Q: Your voice is not what I'm looking for. Can you help me find someone else?
A: Absolutely. I know that my voice is not right for every project and I'm happy to refer you to some of my voice talent contacts in the industry who I personally know will give you outstanding results. This service is done as a professional courtesy at no cost to you.
